No visible cross remains on the tapering stone, yet it still stands inside the doorway of Cell B on High Island. The slab may have worn a cross before people reset it as a jamb, moving a sacred marker into the frame of an ordinary threshold.
This possible cross-slab of garnet mica-schist has been reused and is now the inner jambstone on the N side of the doorway of ‘Cell B’, the clochan (GA021-026013-) to the E of the church (GA021-026014-) on High Island. The tapering disc-headed slab (visible H 0.81m; shaft Wth 0.33m; base T 0.2m) appears to be undecorated (Fisher 2014, 226, no. 65, Fig. 7.11).

Likely dating to the early medieval period, this cross-slab may have originally served as a Christian memorial or liturgical monument before being repurposed as a doorway jamb in a later clochan. The presence of such stones in the Western Isles suggests connections to early Irish or Norse-Gaelic religious traditions.
