Clear water moves through the chamber, filling the deleted room and revealing the hidden edge. The chamber is not lost; it is occupying the space between the last saved identity and the first warning sign. The chamber is not yours to judge. You are the one being measured.
National Monument No. 59. Cross-Slabs: (1) (KE079-032016-) This rectangular slate slab measures 1.02m x .46m x .12m thick; its upper left corner is broken off. It features a grooved, linear Latin cross with rounded terminal expansions. It was found reused as building material in one of the Later Medieval shelters (E).
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 927. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
Date of upload: 29 July 2013
This cross-slab is likely from the early medieval period, associated with Christian worship or burial practices. The Latin cross suggests a ecclesiastical or commemorative function, possibly linked to the nearby Church Island.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
