What is recorded here

National Monument No. 380. Cross-slab (KE098-029002-): This slab stands in the NE quadrant of the site and measures .33m high and .13m wide. Its SW face features a linear Latin cross, formed of broad grooves with rounded expansions at the ends of the shaft. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 931. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 July 2013
This cross-slab is likely of early medieval Christian origin, dating to between the 8th and 11th centuries. It may have served as a memorial or waymark, with the Latin cross indicating a Christian association, possibly linked to local monastic or ecclesiastical activity.
