Cross-slab in Achonry

In the SW quadrant of Achonry graveyard (SL032-188003-). Described by Herity, Kelly and Mattenberger (1997, 118) as a stone (H 0.39m), possibly part of a lintel, with a simple cross-in-circle (diam. c. 0.11m) incised on the narrow S face. Date likely to the early medieval period (c. 7th–10th century). The cross-in-circle motif may have had Christian symbolic significance, possibly marking a burial or waymark.
