Cross stands at the west end of the Fair Green south of Kilcock, a small rectangular granite base with a broad mortice on top. Locals call it the market cross, yet tradition also claims it as a coffin-resting stone, suggesting commerce and death shared the same flat surface. The mortice may have held a wooden post for banners or notices, but that much remains unclear. What is clear is that the stone still occupies the edge of the green, witness to both transaction and farewell.

The photograph shows a small, rectangular, granite (?) cross base with a broad mortice in its upper surface. Traditionally used as a coffin-resting stone.
