Cross-inscribed stone in Kildare

A large collection of cross slabs, grave slabs, decorated stones and three effigies (See KD022-029023- and KD022-029027- to KD022-029057-), dating from the 10th to the 17th centuries have been placed in St. Brigid’s Cathedral (KD022-029005-). KD022-029057-: In the N transept. According to Bradley et al. (1986 vol. 3, 240-41), a small limestone block (H 0.36m; Wth 0.22m; T 0.13m) has a Latin cross on a sloping foot carved in high relief on one face. The surface of the cross is decorated in low relief with foliage on the arms, pocking in the centre, and the shaft has a herring-bone pattern.
