What is recorded here

Red sandstone, old and rough, stands at Grave 395 in Cinn Aird Thoir. A cross was picked into its surface, not carved fine, but made clear enough to mark death and leave witness. The stone may have come from elsewhere, broken or reused, yet it still performs its job: holding a life that no longer speaks.

In 2011 a graveyard survey carried out by Ann Frykler and Robert Hanbidge of Headland Archaeology Ltd. recorded the following details about a cross-inscribed stone (Miscellaneous No. 06): ‘Piece of old red sandstone with inscribed (roughly picked) cross forming gravemarker to Grave No. 395’ (Hanbidge 2011, 12).
