Cinn Aird Thoir holds a thin red sandstone slab where a picked-out cross still marks grave 402. The stone has watched Kerry storms, funeral processions and the changing edge of the graveyard. It may have been cut for one forgotten person, yet it still points downward into soil and memory.

In 2011 a graveyard survey carried out by Ann Frykler and Robert Hanbidge of Headland Archaeology Ltd. recorded the following details about a cross-inscribed stone (Miscellaneous No. 14): ‘Thin slab of probable old red sandstone with picked out inscribed cross, also forming gravemarker to Grave No. 402’ (Hanbidge 2011, 12).
