A small upright stone in Cill Maoilchéadair carries R.I.P. and an equal-armed cross with expanded terminals on its east face. It stands within the Early Christian and Medieval ecclesiastical complex at the foot of Reenconnell hill, overlooking Smerwick Harbour. The lettering suggests a grave or memorial marker, while the cross points to worship, loss, or both.
National Monument No. 65. The Early Christian and Medieval ecclesiastical complex at Kilmalkedar (KE042-026----) lies at the foot of the W slopes of Reenconnell hill, overlooking Smerwick Harbour. The Reenconnell ridge peaks at 907 feet/276m to NE of the site and the area around Kilmalkedar is sheltered on its N and S sides by spurs of this hill.

This cross-inscribed stone likely dates to the Early Christian period (5th–9th centuries AD) and may have served a liturgical or commemorative function within the ecclesiastical complex at Kilmalkedar. Such stones often marked important religious sites or were associated with monastic activity in the region.
