Cross-inscribed pillar in Granabeg Upper

Situated on a marked N-facing slope on the edge of a narrow shallow valley. Granite pillar (H 0.63m; Wth 0.35m; T 0.22m) with a cross inscribed in outline on the N face. The pillar is set in a low cairn (diam. 1.5m; H 0.6m) c. 200m W of a graveyard (WI016-006----). Likely dating to the early medieval period, the cross-inscribed pillar may have functioned as a Christian memorial or waymarker. Such stones often held religious significance and could be associated with local saints or territorial markers.
