Cross in Rathmore West

Cross

What is recorded here

Death and time have both claimed the cross, dragging it beneath the graveyard soil until only a buried shadow remains. What is left visible is a rough tapering edge of granite, perhaps joined to a forgotten base nearby. The cross did not disappear so much as sink, continuing its quiet work underneath the living world.
In a graveyard (KD020-009006-). According to Mr. Brian McCabe (pers. comm.) of the Naas Local History Group, a survey of the graveyard revealed, ' a substantially buried, roughly hewn, tapering granite cross' which may be associated with a possible cross-base nearby (KD020-009014-).
