What is recorded here

Inishcaltra is a holy island in County Clare where a small cross fragment once rested against the north wall of St. Caimin’s church. The fragment measured thirty centimetres wide and twenty-five centimetres high, with a curved thick moulding along one side that may have formed part of a wheel. It has since disappeared from that wall, leaving behind a shape remembered rather than seen.

Included and drawn by de Paor among several items against the N wall of the chancel of St. Caimin’s church (CL029-009011-) on Inis Cealtra (de Paor, SMR file). A possible cross fragment (Wth 0.3m; H 0.25m) with a curved thick moulding along one side. This may be part of the wheeled portion of a cross. The present location of this fragment is unknown.
