Kilfenora is a small Atlantic village where a ruined cathedral still stands beside the sea, and a fragment of a high cross once leaned in its chancel. The stone was carved with diagonal frets and perhaps interlace, marking a place where Christian prayer met older Irish craft. It disappeared after being mounted in the ruins, leaving behind a gap that makes the cathedral feel incomplete.

A small fragment of carved stone found in the graveyard at Kilfenora c. 1954 and mounted in the ruined chancel of the Cathedral (CL016-015002-). The present whereabouts of this fragment are unknown. It is described by de Paor (1955, 59, and pl. IV (c)) as having ornament consisting of diagonal frets.
