Creevaghmore

House, 17th century

What is recorded here

In pastureland. The 1659 census lists ‘Hubbert Ferrall and Symons Sandys’ as the chief landowners in the townland of Creevaghmore (Pender 2002, 453). The present 18th-century house, which has historical connections with the Sandys family, may have replaced an earlier house on or close to its site, or it may date to the late 17th century as the proportions of the windows are similar to Springhill, county Derry, which was built c. 1680 (www.buildingsofireland.ie, Reg. 13402719, last accessed12 October 2012).
