What is recorded here

Crannog in Scrabby is an artificial island dwelling in County Cavan, built when people wanted dry ground surrounded by water. The name suggests a small inhabited place rather than a forgotten shape, perhaps a family home, a seasonal camp or a refuge from damp lowland fields. Its exact age and owners have not survived into clear record, but the crannog itself still belongs to the region: a made land where people chose to live beside water instead of avoiding it.
