What is recorded here

Crannog in Newcastle, County Mayo, is an artificial island dwelling built among reeds and water. People may have stacked soil, stone and wood against the lake current, then lived above the chill and predators. The water kept the edges clean and the centre warm, while the lake recorded every footstep in its hunger.
