What is recorded here

Crannog is a built island in Lough Macnean Lower, County Fermanagh, marked as prehistoric and protected. It is the kind of place where people stood above water, not beside it, with wood, soil and fire making a small dry world in the middle of a wet one. Whatever lived there did so at the edge of drowning, which is why the shape still matters.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CRANNOG. Recorded period: L.B.A.; L.B.A./I.A.; PREHISTORIC. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
