What is recorded here

Crannog in Growell, County Down: an artificial island dwelling from the early Christian period, scheduled and protected. People built land where water resisted, then lived upon that chosen smallness. The lake may have hidden the edges of the house, but it would have recorded every step, fire and argument.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
