What is recorded here

Crannog in Garbally Demesne, County Galway, is an artificial island dwelling from a time when people built homes on water rather than land. The demesne name suggests a later estate claimed the area, yet the crannog itself belongs to older hands who staked wood into mud and lived above the swamp. Perhaps they watched rain move across the bay from dry floors while ordinary fields drowned below. The water did not invade their home; they shaped the water into a room.
