CRANNOG in Drumcrooil, County Fermanagh, is a small water feature caught between human memory and natural change. The name suggests a creek, inlet or narrow channel rather than a grand lake, yet no visible waterway may remain on the land now. If the channel still exists, it may be hidden beneath soil, grass or forgotten field boundaries.
