What is recorded here

CRANNOG is an archaeological crannog in Crott, County Fermanagh, recorded for the early Christian period. The name itself reveals the shape: a small artificial island built among wetlands, where people lived above the water and below the sky. That much is clear. The rest belongs to imagination. Someone stacked stone, wood or earth against the lake, then carried life onto that floating margin. Children ran on narrow decks. Rain struck water instead of soil. When the lake rose, the house rose with it. CRANNOG is not a grand castle or a forgotten city. It is a human answer to wet ground, made visible only because part of it still resists forgetting.
