Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Craigbirnoch 2 as Burial Cairn (bronze Age), Cremation (bronze Age), Short Cist (bronze Age), Food Vessel (pottery)(bronze Age). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Bronze Age burial cairn containing a cremation and a short cist, dating to approximately 2000–800 BCE. Its significance lies in providing evidence of early funerary practices and pottery use in prehistoric Scotland.
