This grey commemorative plaque records: County Hall. 1812. Built to replace the old town hall and sessions house which stood in the middle of the High Street. Demolished in 1810.
County Hall in Lewes was constructed in 1812 to serve as a replacement for the previous town hall and sessions house, centralizing administrative functions and reflecting urban planning trends of the early 19th century.
