Dunnaval is a countescarp rath in County Down, Ireland. It is a scheduled ancient earthwork, marked on the official map at the centre of its surviving shape. The site belongs to the early Christian period, when local people built raised defences and lived inside them. Its name still points to a small human world that shaped stone, soil and memory before modern borders existed.
