Cosmo Haskard was born in Dublin in 1916 and later became the Falkland Islands governor who helped defeat a British plan to hand the islands to Argentina. He lived to one hundred and died near Bantry Bay in 2017, carrying a life that moved from Irish streets to wartime service and distant colonial office. His story sounds like a joke the world nearly believed, until the facts return with his name, dates and acts.
