Cortown Burial Ground holds a subrectangular graveyard about 95m E-W and 55m N-S, truncating the rath to its N while remaining within the ecclesical enclosure. It sits on a gentle NE-facing slope beside the parish church of Balrathboyne, which stands on the site of the early church of St. Baoithín. The absence of any perimeter feature suggests the boundary was understood rather than marked, perhaps drawn by memory, prayer or the reach of the rath itself.
