A thin ribbon of water still circles the castle ruins at Corgarff, making the stone and surface belong to one another instead of separating them. The castle keeps its angle against the sky while the pond takes the light and returns it changed. That is why the place remains memorable: it still shows how building, water and time can be recorded as a single life.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Corgarff Castle, Building and Pond as Building (period Unassigned), Pond (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Corgarff Castle was built in the 16th century by the Gordon family, a powerful Scottish noble clan. It is remembered as a historic stronghold associated with the Gordons of Corgarff and as an example of early defensive architecture in the Scottish Highlands.
