Coolcour House

Detached seven-bay two-storey house, built c.1800, having four-bay extension to side (south-west). Remodelled c.1925. Veranda-style porch to front (south-east). Hipped roof two-storey extension with two-storey lean-to addition and recent flat roof extension to rear. Four-bay two-storey earlier house, built c.1760, attached adjoined to main building by flat roof extension. Box-bay windows to front and side (north-east) elevations. Now in use as guest house. Hipped slate roof with rendered chimneystacks, eaves course and uPVC rainwater goods. Rendered walls to house with raised render sill bands to first floor. Square-headed window openings with render sills and uPVC casement windows. Square-headed window openings to box-bay windows having render sills and wrought-iron casement windows. Round-headed door opening to side (north-east) elevation having glazed wrought-iron French door with fanlight. Square-headed door opening to front within veranda porch having recent glazed steel framed door. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks to adjoining farmhouse. Lined-and-ruled rendered walls. Square-headed window openings with render sills and surrounds having bipartite timber framed windows with four-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows to first floor and timber casement windows to ground floor. Ranges of outbuildings with having pitched slate roofs and rubble stone walls located to north-west.

This building contains an eighteenth-century house that was later extended in the early nineteenth century and remodelled in the 1920s, following its burning during the Troubles. The form of the original eighteenth century house, although altered, is recognisable. The related outbuildings and gate lodge add to its setting and context.
