What is recorded here
Depicted as 'Cooking House 1691' on the 1837 edition of the Ordnance Survey six inch map where it is shown as a rectangular building aligned on a NE-SW axis with field boundary running through centre of building along its long axis. No building is indicated in this area on subsequent editions of the OS maps. 17th century dwelling probably associated with the 1691 Siege of Athlone. A modern housing development is now located in area where house is shown on OS maps.
