What is recorded here

Magesh Ridge in County Down became a defensive edge during the twentieth century, and the control tower remains a scheduled marker of that military purpose. Whether it watched roads, fields or distant water, the structure turned a broad landscape into a line of sight for someone standing inside. That is still visible in its shape: a small building made to see across a wide area.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as Control tower (DHR 00028:019). Recorded period: C20TH. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
