Colin Griffin

Colin Griffin was born in Ballinamore, County Leitrim, on 3 August 1982, the quiet starting point for a life spent walking long distances across borders. He trained in Limerick and Saluzzo, competed in two Olympic Games, and later coached Laura Reynolds while directing an altitude centre. On 17 August 2012, he watched her finish 20th in London after his own 50 km walk ended in disqualification at 38 km. A birthplace becomes measurable only when someone leaves it, returns changed, and helps another person go further.
