The Colchester Roman Circus is a well-preserved example of a Roman chariot racing venue, dating to the 1st century AD, and is associated with the Roman town of Camulodunum, an important early settlement in Roman Britain. It is significant as one of the few Roman circuses known outside the Mediterranean and reflects the cultural and military importance of Colchester in the Roman period.
