This blue commemorative plaque records: Hyderabad and Meeanee Barracks. Named after battles fought in Sindh, now Pakistan. They replaced Colchester Camp built here, on Ordnance Field, in 1855. Recorded plaque organisation: Taylor Wimpey, Colchester Civic Society.
Hyderabad and Meeanee Barracks were named after significant battles fought by British forces in Sindh, now part of Pakistan, during the First Anglo-Sikh War; these barracks replaced the earlier Colchester Camp established in 1855 on Ordnance Field.
