Cliff-edge fort in Newtown (cloncurry Ed) stands as a partial cropmark, revealing a semi-circular enclosure about forty-six metres wide on the south side of a stream. The earth itself has forgotten the shape, yet the soil still holds the memory of a boundary drawn between Newtown and Cappagh. What is missing is not loss but transformation: the cliff edge has become a line of sight, and the fort has become a question the land asks whenever rain strips it bare.
