What is recorded here

Melted bones from the Early Bronze Age still lie inside a stone cist at Carrickinab, proving that fire and burial shared one ritual there. People built a small chamber, heated marrow and muscle until they cracked, then gathered what remained instead of forgetting it. The cist denied the dead a clean disappearance. It forced the living to handle loss twice: once in flame and once in stone.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CIST with BRONZE AGE CREMATION BURIAL. Recorded period: E.B.A.; PREHISTORIC. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
