Cist in Carrowlisdooaun is a one-metre stone box on high Mayo pasture, built for one body and forgotten until 1850. Inside lay a crouched adult male, head facing east, with the broken remains of a vase. The gravel floor and flag capstone suggest a deliberate gift for the dead, not a careless dump. Whatever that man valued, he took into the dark with him.

On high ground, 35m ENE of barrow (MA100-071001-), in good pasture. Short, rectangular cist (L 1m; Wth 0.5m; D 0.5m) with long axis orientated E-W. Covered with a flag capstone and contained a gravel floor. First discovered c. 1850, it was examined in 1933. It contained the remains of a vase and a crouched inhumation of an adult male, with the head facing E (JGAHS 1934, 57). The above description has been derived from D.
