No visible trace remains because the cist in Ballynaboola was destroyed when the forestry nursery was made, yet in 1978 workmen still found cremated bone and scattered stones nearby. That sudden appearance after loss suggests the place was not empty but changing shape.

In forestry nursery, one of three graves (CO008-01201-; CO008-01203-) found close together by workmen in 1978. Grave was 'uncovered as a deposit of cremated bone 2m SW of cist [CO008-01201-]...a number of large stones were scattered around the bones indicating the burial had probably been enclosed by a cist' (Doody 1986, Cork No. 5).
