Under Shanco soil, a stone cist still holds Bronze Age bones. The dead were wrapped in cloth or bark, laid flat, and covered with flat rocks before earth was dragged across them. They believed the dead would return changed, remembering nothing but the shape of the place. To bury someone there was to give them back to Shanco and trust the land to keep them.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CIST BURIAL. Recorded period: BRONZE AGE; PREHISTORIC. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
