Church (Site of)

Reference to the foundations of a church (dims. c. 15.24m x 9.14m) and a community of men dependent on Aghaboe (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 58). No visible surface remains survive. Reference to a church here when it was described as 'Ecclesia de Balygeuenan' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 371). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran.
