Church Island

Church Island rises from Lough Gill as the largest islet on the water, holding the ruined church and graveyard where pregnant women once crowded Our Lady’s Bed, seeking protection or life. That stone may have begun as a medieval shrine or reliquary, yet it still invites wonder because the island kept becoming a place where desperate hope could touch something older.
