Locally known as site of Kilmichael burial ground (14169) and church. Low undulations noted in area of site. According to Grove White (1905-25, vol. 4, 243), 'Kilmoheel or Kilmichael...the site of a very early church or castle' was situated 'in the centre of the demesne...a large mound'; burial ground (14169) lies immediately outside N boundary of demesne on 1842 OS 6-inch map.
