Church (in ruins)

Located towards the bottom of the N-facing slope of a low E-W ridge. This is the site of the parish church of Kiltrisk, which is depicted as a rectangular building (L c. 15m) described as in ruins on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. According to a Visitation by Thomas Ram, the Protestant bishop of Ferns, in 1615 Daniel Morfi was the priest , and the church and chancel were in repair (Hore 1900-11, vol. 6, 273). The graveyard is a rectangular area (dims. 39m E–W; 35m N–S) defined by field banks on the E and S sides and a slight scarp elsewhere. There are no visible remains of a church at ground level and there is no evidence of burial, although the enclosure is described as this on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Kiltrisk Well, a natural spring, is c. 100m to the E. The motte (WX022-005----) is c. 330m to the SSW.
