Church (in Ruins)

In graveyard (14565). Overgrown ruin of former C of I parish church of Clondulane. Built of random-rubble sandstone. Rectangular nave (17m E-W; c. 8m N-S): two rough opes in S wall; wide ope in E wall; all window frames removed. Three storey tower (c. 4.75m N-S; 4m E-W) at W end, with pointed door ope in W wall. Built in 1812 to accommodate 100 persons, on or near site of earlier church (CO036-006003-) which was 'in repair' in 1615 (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 127). Lewis (1837, vol. 1, 356) described church as 'recently repaired'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
