What is recorded here
Situated in pasture on a shelf on the N side of the W-E Dawn river valley, with the stream c. 100m to the S. It is marked 'Old Grave Yard' on the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and it was regarded by J. O'Donovan c. 1840 as the site of the church of St Dimóg' or St Dima (O'Flanagan 1929, 25-6). It was described as having an ecclesiastical enclosure (Power 1952, 370-1), which produced a bullaun stone (dims. 0.5m x 0.35m) with a single basin (diam. 0.23m; D 8cm) when it was cut in making a N-S lane. It is not visible at ground level. A barrow (WA016-010----) is adjacent to the S and the bullaun stone is at a nearby house.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

The church in Kilmoyemoge East is believed to have been built in the 19th century, likely as a small rural chapel or graveyard associated with an earlier ecclesiastical site. Its significance lies in its historical documentation by John O'Donovan around 1840 and its location in a landscape rich with early Christian and medieval heritage.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
