Church in Killamude West

In flat open pastureland. According to local tradition, this was the site of 'the church of Modiúit', a saint and bishop who lived in the 6-7th C (Flynn 1991, 12-13). All that survives are the low grassy foundations of a rectangular building aligned E-W, 'measuring about 10 1/2 feet [3.2m] by 6 1/2 feet [2m] internally' (ibid.). This appears to stand within a small rectangular enclosure, also defined by low grassy foundations. Though a number of large stones lie in the vicinity, no architectural features survive (information from P. Ruane). Not visited.
