CHURCH & GRAVEYARD (site of) in Carrowreagh

CHURCH & GRAVEYARD (site of)

What is recorded here

Carrowreagh held a church and graveyard around the thirteenth century, though no building remains visible to judge the claim. The site still belongs to County Down, waiting beneath soil and grass for someone to notice what disappeared.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CHURCH & GRAVEYARD (site of). Recorded period: UNCERTAIN; C13TH. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
