What is recorded here

Errigal Church stands in Ballintemple as a medieval Christian site holding a graveyard and bullaun font, yet uncertainty still shadows its exact birth and continued life. The cleared stones and hollowed ground suggest people kept returning to pray, bury their dead and shape water for ritual long after the first builder left. St Adamnan may have anchored the place in memory, but the region itself resisted easy ownership. What is certain is that human hands marked the landscape for devotion and death before modern records arrived.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CHURCH, GRAVEYARD & BULLAUN ('FONT'): ERRIGAL CHURCH, ERRIGAL ADAMNAN or ST ADAMNAN'S CHURCH. Recorded period: MED/L.MED; UNCERTAIN; E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: State Care with Proposed Scheduled Area. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
