Church & Burial ground

Graveyard

What is recorded here

O'Donovan recorded church tradition and bone findings at the Carlow graveyard before a 1979 plough exposed a rotary quern fragment and more bones. The ground has kept giving up pieces of its own history, as if remembering the shape of the lost church through what it hides and reveals.
O'Donovan (OSL 1839, 365) recorded tradition of church site (CW003-021001-) and finding of bones. In November 1979 a rotary quern fragment and bones were discovered during ploughing (Cahill and Sikora 2011, Vol. 2, 458). Cross base (CW003-022----) may be connected with this site.
