Christian Davies was born Christian Cavanagh in 1667 in County Dublin, Ireland. She lost her husband to the army, cut her hair, and joined the infantry disguised as a man to find him. She fought in Flanders and later served with Scottish dragoons before becoming a Chelsea Pensioner. Daniel Defoe met her in old age and wrote her life as a book.
