Childrens Burial Ground

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Childrens Burial Ground is a raised semicircular area of small headstones and one large slab-lined grave in County Galway. It abuts a townland boundary in level pastureland, where several trees now grow among the stones. The place marks childhood loss before written records, inviting wonder about the families who carried infants to this quiet edge of the land.
In level pastureland. This children's burial ground consists of a raised semicircular area (20m E-W; 11m N-S) which abuts the E side of a NNE-SSW running townland boundary. Several trees are growing on it. A number of small headstones protrude from the sod cover and one large slab-lined grave is visible.
